Lady Gaga made a powerful statement about her fashion choices at the 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration on Monday and it has not gone unnoticed!
In an attempt to “take the power back” and reject the traditional dresses that often dominate the red carpet and award ceremonies, the singer and actor arrived dressed in a Marc Jacobs oversized suit, challenging the standards of femininity that we’ve all come to accept.

Intentionally wearing an exaggeratedly large suit, Gaga took to the stage to deliver an emotional and thought provoking acceptance speech for the ELLE Women in Hollywood Award, addressing the audience she said: “I tried on dress after dress today getting ready for this event, one tight corset after another, one heel after another… To be honest, I felt sick to my stomach.”
Opting for a pantsuit, she added: “I had a revelation that I had to be empowered to be myself today more than ever. To resist the standards of Hollywood, whatever that means. To resist the standards of dressing to impress. To use what really matters: my voice.”
Always one to challenge the status quo, Lady Gaga used her words as opposed to her fashion to make a statement this time, calling into question what it really means to be a woman in Hollywood. “We are not just objects to entertain the world, we are voices. We have to power to speak and be heard and fight back when we are silenced.”
In choosing to wear the Marc Jacobs suit from the SS19 collection, the A Star Is Born actor used fashion in a more powerful way than she has ever done before, to find her voice.
