Meet The Enchanting Tia Gostelow
Hailing from Australia, emerging artist Tia Gostelow started her music journey in 2018. Moving from the regional Queensland town of Mackay to Brisbane at the age of 18, Gostelow was able to create her sound and gain a place in the local music scene. Seven months into 2019 the emerging songstress is already cementing her place as an artist to watch.
With her track ‘Strangers’ garnering 4 million streams on Spotify and her debut album ‘Thick Skin’ solidifying 10 million streams, Gastelow is continuing her upward trajectory with her new track “Get To It”. The record showcases her distinctive voice and lyrics that everyone can relate to.
We got a chance to chat with Tia Gostelow about everything from her new song, her move to Brisbane, and so much more…
What inspired your new track, ‘Get To It’?
I co-wrote this song a while ago but it was only recently that it clicked to me what it was about. I feel like the past couple of months i’ve become really aware of what direction i want to go in and what the next steps of my career are and i just want to cut all the bullshit and finally get to it.
What do you want fans to take away after listening to the track?
I think more than anything i just want people to see the growth i’ve had as an artist and person. I feel like i’m a lot more sure of myself now and i have more of a solid direction that i’m going in and this single is just that start of that.
You recently moved to Brisbane, Australia, how has this changed affected your music?
It made everything more accessible for me and i feel like i’m not as restricted anymore. I have the opportunity to go and meet people and write with people and broaden my knowledge and artistic direction.
How does it feel to have your debut album ‘Thick Skin’?
So good! it was a 2 year process so to finally have it out was so great and i’m so proud of it.
Do you have plans on releasing another album or EP soon?
Currently halfway through writing my next record and i’m so excited for it!
Are there any genres or artists that inspire you and your music?
My taste in music changes all of the time but lately BROODS have made a huge impact on the sound I want to go for!
What are three things you want to accomplish as an artist?
I want to make sure my music is true to myself and what i want it to be. I would love to play Coachella one day. To remain as honest as i can.
How would you describe your aesthetic and sound in 5 words or less?
Some 90’s rock pop.
