Cher is a legend in the music industry, and her Here We Go Again Tour continues to showcase her show-stopping talent . Here are six reasons why her tour is iconic!
1. A TOUCH OF VEGAS
For many of us Vegas is a neon utopia out of reach (and pocket), but luckily Cher has packed the glittering mechanics of her over-the-pond show to us adorning Brits. From the diamond encrusted elephant to the disco Aphrodite lift, no expense is spared on her stage, giving bang for buck while she belts out Strong Enough.
2. THE RELENTLESS COSTUME CHANGES
Like us, are you impressed when an artist darts off the stage during a dance troupe interlude, only to reappear in a new outfit? For some reason we leave science, common sense and an everyday chore at the door, and cheer like we’ve just seen Jesus. Well…if we’re on the same page, imagine a wardrobe religion according to Cher, where she packs so many outfit changes into her set, it almost out proportions the number of songs! Seeing as her fashion sense has paved pop culture just as much as the hits, it’s only serving that we’re given an extravagant catwalk.

3. CHER THROUGH THE AGES
Cher had a farewell tour 14 years ago. Obviously she turned back time and changed her mind, hence 2019s ‘Here We Go Again’ crusade. Rivalling Madonna on the reinvention front, Cher uses her latest tour to show us all the decades and pillars for which she’s pioneered. We see her sentimental of the 60s with digital screen Sonny duets. There’s a flamed backdrop, metal guitarists galore and a certain leather jacket leotard for the 80s segment. Did Cher forget to mention that she’s also an Oscar winner? Well she dusted off her goldwear and brought all the soundtracks to stage, including The Shoop Shoop Song and Burlesque. (The latter didn’t win any awards, but her seductive dance academy training of Christina Aguilera is better than Hollywood put together anyway!) Finally, how can we forget the 90s, when Cher donned a neon tree on her head to make us Believe again. There was no fitting end to the set than this Eurovision raver.
4. CHER THE COMIC
Cher, has, banter! Only two songs in to her set, the crowd applaud so relentlessly that it almost pisses her off. She doesn’t need our acceptance does she!? After telling everyone to pipe down, she asks if people like the ‘natural’ blue aztec punk hair she had done the other day. This cues a monologue that name-drops, serves tea on celebrities, calls politicians assholes, and goes off into bizarre tangents that even surprises Cher. With every drag queen of Ru Paul aspiring to master Cher’s TOV and shutdowns, we could listen to the star ramble on all day.
5. GRANDMA GOALS
While Cher is strutting up and down the O2 in fishnets and casually steering a mechanical elephant like it’s a must-have mobility scooter, can we take a moment to appreciate that she’s SEVENTY THREE! “People applaud when I say I’m 73, and I wonder if it’s because I’m still alive. Anyway, what’s your granny doing tonight?” Amen to that!

6. CHER AND ABBA
We wonder how it happened…was Cher on the sofa one Sunday eating a packet of maltesers with Mama Mia on, when it suddenly clicked…I SHOULD BE A SUPER TROOPER TOO! The recipe of Cher’s low electro warble and Abba’s rhythmic choruses was meant to be, made even more iconic thanks to the blonde wigs it introduces. Half way through the set Cher pauses her own discography to become her Swedish alter ego, and a thousand aunties and hen do’s spring out of their seat. It makes you question whether they were just tapping their toes until this point, which would obviously have been pop treason. But there’s a Cher for everyone, and that’s why this tour is everything!
