Here’s Everything That Happened At The 2020 BRIT Awards

The BRIT Awards returned with a BANG, and it was everything we could have wanted and more. The 40th show started off with a sweet tribute to television presenter Caroline Flack – the Love Island host tragically passed away earlier this week. The night continued to with an array of fantastic performances and interviews that will have music fans talked for days to come.

Securing hosting duties for the third year in a row, comedian Jack Whitehall didn’t disappoint. From calling out the lack of female nominees to his hilarious interviews with the iconic Lizzo and dreamy Harry Styles – Jack Whitehall was on the mark and helped ring in a memorable show. 

PERFORMANCES

In true BRITS fashion, the performances of the night were unreal. Viewers were treated a staggering ten performances from some of music’s biggest and greatest.

Rising star Mabel opened the show with her hit track ‘Don’t Call Me Up’. With a fun set design, choreography – involving chairs, dance breaks, and intricate routines – Mabel set the stage on fire, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.

Lewis Capaldi, Celeste and, Harry Styles gave show-stopping performances with their intimate renditions of ‘Someone You Loved’, ‘Strange’, and ‘Falling’, respectively.

Stormzy brought all the heat with his medley performance of hit tracks ‘Don’t Forget to Breathe’, ‘Do Better’, ‘Wiley Flow’ and ‘Own It’ featuring the lively Burna Boy.

Billie Eilish performed the new Bond theme song – ‘No Time To Do’ for the first time along with her brother Finneas O’Connell, Hans Zimmerman, and Johnny Marr from The Smiths. Paired with a full orchestra, the ‘Ocean Eyes’ songstress stunned with her impressive vocals and stage presence.

Dave wowed with his breathtaking and creative performance of ‘Black‘. The powerful performance beautifully addressed the current political climate, injustices, and the struggles that black women and men face in society.

WINNERS

Lewis Capaldi, Dave, Stormzy and Mabel were the big winners of the night. The ‘Someone You Loved’ singer nabbed the award for Best Song and Best new artist, while Mabel and Stormzy won Best British Female and Male respectively.

Tyler, the Creator, and Billish Eilish were awarded International Male and Female, with the latter making a heartfelt speech about feeling hated from the public.

Dave closed out the winners list winning Best Album for his record ‘Psychodrama’.

The show ended on a high note with the legendary Rod Stewart performing alongside with Ronnie Wood and Keeney Jones.
