Witty and thoughtful hip-hop artist, Bryce Vine, has just released his newest single ‘Baby Girl.’ Bryce Vine is a genre-bending musician with an East-Coast-smarts meets West-Coast-sound take on rap and pop songs alike. Ever since his breakthrough hits ‘Drew Barrymore,’ ‘La La Land,’ and ‘It’s Not Alright’ with Loud Luxury, Bryce has taken on the music world by storm.

Produced by Grammy-winning legend Chad Hugo (of The Neptunes and N.E.R.D.) with Bryce Vine’s long-term collaborator Sir Nolan (Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber), ‘Baby Girl’ is Vine’s latest take on a club song– “something that people can just put on when they want to have a good time. Not everything needs to be super deep, sometimes it’s about having fun for fun’s sake.”

We got to chat with Bryce about everything from his time at Berklee, which artist shaped him growing up, his poppin new track ‘Baby Girl’ and so much more…

What is your earliest music-related memory?

Driving in the car with my mom singing along to the Aladdin soundtrack when I was Like 6.

Which genre of music filled your house growing up? Was there an artist that shaped you as an artist?

My mom always played Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello songs. My dad always had jazz going on a record player. In my room, I jammed to Third Eye Blind and Blink 182. A variety of music was always around me.

You attended Berklee College Of Music, what was that experience like for you? How has it helped with your artistry and your path to music?

Berklee was intimidating because I was surrounded by talented people. It was most rewarding because of the friends I made. I still work with my DJ Lvcky Dave and producer Nolan, both of whom I met At Berklee.

Is there a Crush Club song you wish you could re-record and release?

Love aholic featuring G Eazy haha. That shit still slaps.

You’ve been working with Sir Nolan for quite some time. Can you go into the creative process you two share?

Nolan and I both have a strong ear for good music and a background in varied genres. We can trust each other’s taste. He is one of the smartest people I know, and we share a desire to make music that we can be proud of. We were both awkward, sensitive kids growing up, and I think that shared background connects us and our music taste.

Let’s talk about your banging new track ‘Baby Girl’, what was the inspiration behind the song?

When I go into the studio to record, I always try to imagine the scene in which the song would be playing. I imagined A lively summer night in a Miami club, celebrating with my friends. Baby Girl isn’t like any of my other songs, and I love keeping people guessing what I’m going to do next. I never want to make the same song twice.

The visual for the record is so vibrant and carefree, was that the direction you wanted the video to have?

Ya absolutely. It’s a celebration song. It’s about someone who deserves a night out. We all need a break from the real world once in a while.

After having such a wild 2019 and the release of your new track, what else can fans expect from you this year? A new album, perhaps?

Yep, my new project is coming out in June. It’s all-new songs that I’m really proud of, including one I wrote the day after Kobe (Bryant) died called ‘Life Goes On’. Other than that, I am playing a bunch of college shows and festivals, which are always so fun and full of energy. I love meeting and hyping up fans.
