The long weekend is finally here, and we have a brand new Spindle Selects playlist to help you ring it in! Featuring releases from Dan D’Lion, Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, Sinead Harnett, The 1975 and more. Check out the rest of our selects below…

Dan D’Lion – Pull Me Under

Dan D’Lion is back with his brand new single ‘Pull Me Under’ – his first track of 2020. The record supplies a hybrid sound – blending elements of lo-fi pop, electronica and hip-hop. Speaking on the single’s background the singer-songwriter states ‘Pull Me Under’ is the feeling I go back to time and time again. It’s about giving into the uncontrollable, that one thing that gives you the highest high, but dumps you in the lowest of low without warning. It’s about the way in which our emotions can overpower any control we have over ourselves, and knowing that’s totally ok. In fact, it’s fucking amazing!”. Make sure to keep an eye out for his new mixtape ‘When One Thing Leads To Another’ dropping later this summer.

Tim Atlas – Tangerine (Neil Frances Remix) 

If you were obsessed with Tim Atlas’s 2019 track, ‘Tangerine’ then brace yourself for the atmospheric Neil Frances remix. The new record features a funky lo-fi/electronica sound that will have you moving and grooving throughout the long weekend. Nasty Cherry – I Am King

Nasty Cherry has dropped a tantalizing new record, and we are losing our minds. Delivering an electronica-rock sound, ‘I Am King’ was co-produced and written by Dylan Brady of 100 GECS. Proving to be an empowering and unapologetic band, Nasty Cherry is gearing up for their second EP aptly titled ‘Season 2’, and we can’t wait to listen to more uplifting anthems.

HAIM – Don’t Wanna

So-Cal sister trio HAIM has released another banger of their forthcoming album with ‘Don’t Wanna’. The track is a feel-good record that touches on the complexities of relationships. We can always count on the ladies of HAIM, to create optimistic music that will tug at the heartstrings. 

Miller Blue – New Love

Alternative-R&B talent Miller Blue has released a captivating new single ‘New Love’ alongside his hotly-anticipated EP ‘Sunflower‘. Filled with sweet jazzy flows and intimate lyrics about love, Miller Blue’s new track is perfect for your long weekend plans.

Olivia Lunny – Bedsheets

Canadian singer-songwriter Olivia Lunny gave us a peek into her diary with her new ballad “Bedsheets,” and we never want to stop reading. The stripped back production allows for her silky vocal to take the lead as she shares a personal story about feeling physically close yet emotionally far away, and eventually, leaving that type of love behind. 

Connie Constance – Monty Python

Connie Constance is back with a new alt-indie sound on her track ‘Monty Python’. The hypnotic song will have you dancing all weekend long with its guitar-led production and unapologetic lyrical content.

GRACEY ft. Ruel – Empty Love

Pop songstress GRACEY partners up with Australian hitmaker Ruel on her new track ‘Empty Love‘. The song is an upfront record that tackles social media and societies tendencies in creating impossible standards. The two have also released a powerful video for the single, which you can view below…

JUNG – Nobody Knows

‘Nobody Knows’  is the feel-good jam we need! From it’s guitar plucked production and inspirational lyrics JUNG has managed to create an optimistic record during these hard times. Speaking on the track, the duo states “‘ Nobody Knows’ is the start of a new era for us, and we really wanted to kick it off with something energetic and up-tempo. The song is about not knowing what’s gonna come, and that’s why it’s so important to try to be happy now with what you got!” 

Sinead Harnett – Quarantine Queen

Sinead Harnett is giving us angelic royal songstress vibes on her new track ‘Quarantine Queen’. Harnett sings about her hopes and fears that she’s having during this global pandemic, and it’s relatable to a tee! We’re living in strange times, and it’s nice to know that Sinead is right there with us. Thank you queen! 

Aitch – Raw

Aitch unleashes a fire single with ‘Raw’. The North Manchester rapper discusses his life and come up in the rap game with smooth bars and simplistic production.

Tiana Blake – Hit The Spot

Emerging South-London artist Tiana Blake is making her mark in the R&B world with ‘Hit The Spot’. The new track explores intimacy and romance and delivers an early noughties sound reminiscent of Jill Scott. We can’t wait to hear more music from the R&B songstress. 

Mr. Eazi, emPawa Africa – I No Go Give Up On You

Positive, sweet, and catchy are three ways to describe Mr Eazi’s incredible single ‘I No Go Give Up On You. The minute you start the track, your mood will instantly shift and have you humming along to its afrobeat sound. If you’re in need of a pick-me-up, then play this track on repeat.

Nick Mulvey – Begin Again

Nick Mulvey has dropped a spectacular new acoustic track ‘Begin Again’, and we are in love. Inspired by the current global pandemic, Mulvey channelled his hopes and dreams for the future in the new record. Even though the world is in disarray, he has managed to stay optimistic stating “I see chaos, but I also see the opportunity for a new world, and a more beautiful one,”. Keep an ear out for his upcoming EP also titled ‘Begin Again’ and dropping June 5th. 

Russ ft. Ty Dolla $ign – 3AM

Russ and Ty Dolla $ign are having after-hours worries on their new single ‘3AM’. The two sing about wanting to spend time with that special someone. Between the production and it’s lyrical content ‘3AM’ will have you wanting to call your boo thang.

JC Stewart – I Need You To Hate Me

JC Stewart channels his heartache on his new record ‘I Need You To Hate Me’. The singer-songwriter discusses the uncertainty of a relationship with his passionate lyrics and pop-trap production. JC Stewart recently took to twitter expressing his excitement for the release staying “I NEED YOU TO HATE ME IS OUT NOW! This is my favourite song I’ve ever written, and I hope you don’t hate it, but if you do, I’ve kinda done my job, I suppose. Check it out!” 

Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande – Rain On Me

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande have created a dance-pop masterpiece with their new collab ‘Rain On Me’. Filled with a 90’s style production, the new track is a passionate ballad that will have you wishing we weren’t in quarantine and on a dance floor instead. After pushing back her album release from April to May, Lady Gaga has been holding nothing back, giving us a new single with one of pop’s biggest acts and accompanying video to boot! Thank you, Mother Monster and Ari!

Tove Lo – sadder, badder, cooler

Electro-pop songstress Tove Lo has don’t it again with her new single ‘sadder, badder, cooler’. The empowering song tackles the topic of a fizzled relationship and the process of reclaiming a piece of you that was lost. Speaking about the track, Tove Lo states, Elvira Anderfjärd and I wrote ‘sadder badder cooler’ after going deep about how every heartbreak kind of chips away a little piece of you, but it also gives you power if you let it. And how breaking it off with someone who’s bad to you is always a mixed feeling of sadness, anger and big relief. This song to me is full of glitter and power and I hope it hits heavy with my fans.”

Fredo – Hickory Dickory Dock

Promising talent Fredo has released another banger with his swag filled track ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’. The song features a fire trap beat and insane flow from Fredo, who holds nothing back on the record. 

Kamal. – blue

‘blue’ is a lo-fi track that will be a staple in your weekend music rotation. The North-West Londoner delivers fantastic vocals and meaningful lyrics on the track, which is a perfect representation of his talent.

Lianne La Havas – Can’t Fight

The talented Lianne La Havas is continuing her music comeback with her brand new track ‘Can’t Fight.’  The track was co-written with Mura Masa and is a record about the finding a rhythm in a relationship. If you’re starting a new relationship with someone special, have patience and play this track on repeat to get you through. 

GLOWE – Better Than You Do

Emerging artist GLOWE has dropped pop perfection with her debut EP ‘Daughter’, and it’s single ‘Better Than You Do’. With its infectious beat and passionate lyrical content, ‘BTYD’ is a spectacular song that will have you hooked. Speaking on the track, the songstress states, “it is a “song is about one of those super intense and passionate relationships where both people involved are so fiery that it’s burning the relationship down. Gunna – WUNNA

Gunna is going to have you vibing all weekend long with his new single ‘WUNNA’. Fresh off dropping his new album of the same name Gunna is proving to be one of the hottest hip hop/trap artists out there.
