Introducing The Dynamic Songstress…BOSCO
Rising talent BOSCO is an artist that’s taking the R&B world by storm. The emerging singer-songwriter has wowed music lovers and tastemakers with her magnetic sound and raw lyrical content. Her journey first started when she was four years old – singing in the church. Over the years, the songstress continued to hone her craft, and in the process created her own lane in the Atlanta music scene. Since her debut BOSCO has released an array of singles and projects including her intimate ‘b.’ EP and her long-awaited follow up ‘Some Day This Will All Make Sense’. Between having her innovative music featured on HBO’s hit series Insecure, to launching her very own creative agency that targets millennials of colour, BOSCO is proving to be a multitalented artist that’s destined for greatness.
We were able to chat with BOSCO about everything from her brand new project, whether she is Team Issa or Team Molly, her powerful visuals and more…
First, I want to congratulate you on your second project ‘Some Day This Will All Make Sense’ absolutely amazing!! Can you tell us a bit about the journey leading to it’s release?
The process was quite interesting in many ways because of all the hands involved from the production side to the visuals. Working with two separate teams simultaneously always has its challenges, but nevertheless it was fun. This body of work truly defined and sharpened my eye for production and design. I worked very closely with everyone involved in multiple cities, but it was all worth it. The song process came a bit easy this time around although I had a lot going on in my personal life it was a healthy outlet to address issues I had within myself but from a very reflective sentiment.
What type of themes did you want to touch on the record?
Accountability, self-realization/discovery, freedom, ownership.
How does the new project differ from your first EP b.? How have you grown in between both releases?
b., was a bit melancholy, written from a place of hurt and dealing with issues that I was totally prepared for. I feel now with the new body of work it comes from very a different place of vulnerability to be able to assess things more clearly from a place of wisdom.
We need to talk about your video for your banging singles ‘Take Off’ & ‘Attention’. There’s a lot of powerful imagery in those visuals. What was the creative process for the video?
‘Attention’ is my baby! I think visually we were able to tap into that Y2K era, making it modern for today’s culture. I think it’s also very timely with the state of this country how we we’re so afraid of the digital era in the 00’s that now all we have to communicate to the world around us is the internet. Everyone is stuck in the internet lol. ‘Take Off’ is another favourite because the inspiration behind it came from synchronized swimming and Wes Anderson. My goal was to have a pool video, but we had budget restriction but it’s all good because I love the final product and how we had to get creative with the concept.
Along with getting the video treatment, ‘Attention’ has also been featured in the 4th episode of HBO’s hit series Insecure (HUGE HUGE fan of the show!). How does it feel to hear your music on such a fantastic show like Insecure?
Honestly, It’s an out-of-body experience. It really doesn’t click, I have a bit of a disconnection to how the world sees me and how I see myself. God made me that way, so the hype doesn’t get to my head. I always saw myself in these spaces as a kid, so it’s really just confirmation to my dreams.

Rewinding it back a bit, did you always want to pursue music?
Music has always been my 1st love, along with Art. I can’t put one over the other although society tries to make me pick they both equally have my heart. I grew up around music my whole life in the church and my family is HUGE into music, so it’s something I could never get away from.
In the spirit of quarantine, if you were shipwrecked on an island with all the water and food you could need, what are three items you would bring with you?
Laptop, Bible, chapstick
Bringing it back, what can fans expect from BOSCO in the coming months? More videos? An album?
More music, more visuals, hopefully, some shows and pictures of my baby lol. Looking forward to some exciting new things with SLUG too.
