Introducing Kali Claire, The Rising RnB Talent
RnB singer/songwriter Kali Claire is a rising talent that’s making massive waves in the industry. Kali’s interest in music first started during her childhood. Between her mother playing music in the house and her grandfather teaching her how to play chords, the songstress was constantly surrounded by an array of genres and artists. Her love for the craft continued to grow over the years and soon Kali was teaching herself how to produce her own material. In 2016, the emerging star signed with Too Loud Management, elevating her dreams to new heights. Since signing, she has worked with an array of artists including BRIT Award winner Mabel, Not3s, Conor Maynard and more. With an emotive vocal talent and soulful sound, Kali Claire is proving to be one of the UK’s most exciting new voices.

When you think about your childhood which artist or song first pops into your mind?
I listened to so much different music growing up, but hero by Mariah Carey gives me a nostalgia feeling.
Who in your life was a driving force when it came to you pursuing music?
I think because I’ve always known I want to write songs, I’ve been on my own driving force. But I definitely have a really supportive family. And the people I have around me make me want better too.
How has growing up in London influenced your music taste?
London is a 24hr city filled with so much different culture, I think it’s impossible to be bored here. There’s so many genres being made and played in the uk it definitely opens you up to new things.
How do you get yourself in the mindset to create music? Any routines or must-have items in the studio?
I could get an idea for a song at any time, it’s usually a melody or words. I’m not too strict with the process but when I’m finishing or recording final vocals I have to have snacks, water and recently sunglasses. There’s something about sunglasses that make me feel like I’m singing better lol.
What’s your favourite aspect of self-producing?
Producing for me is about getting all the ideas from my head into the computer. All the producers I’ve worked with have been men, and that’s just because there are more of them. But sometimes it can be a bit much, especially starting sessions at 17 I wasn’t as assertive as I am now, and wouldn’t say my ideas. Sometimes when I’m trying out new ideas I prefer not to be around anyone so I can make mistakes.
Let’s dive into your track ‘All My Nights’. Got me all in my feels! What was the inspiration for the record?
I like to over exaggerate things, but it was mainly just about frustration. Trying to forget, but wanting to remember.
With this track being released during the lockdown, will we be receiving a quarantine-filmed video soon??
I’ve been making mood boards, video ideas and lists this whole quarantine. I think videos are still important in 2020 so they’ll definitely be more.
Can we expect more new music soon? Can you give us a sneak peek at what fans can look forward to?
I really go through the seasons so the inspiration hasn’t stopped yet. I’m always making new music, and can’t wait to drop it.
