Emerging talent SNARL is taking over the electronic music world with his debut single ‘Ibiza’ and he’s only – 16-years-old. Born and raised in Essex, the young talent immersed himself in the music world with the help of the many different social media platforms. Teaching himself how to produce using the internet, the rising star secured an innovative sound that mixes the house and dubstep genres. With his debut track quickly gaining traction and his recent remix collab on Alice Chater’s ‘Two Of Us’ record, SNARL is gearing up for an exciting year.

We were able to chat with him about everything from creating his first batch of songs, his sound and so much more…

When did you first connect with music?

I’ve been really into music since I was a small child. My dad first introduced me to Daft Punk, which then slowly evolved into artists like Skrillex, Virtual Riot and the like.

What was your experience like creating your first batch of songs? Do you still have them?

My first batch of “songs” were a couple of short loop-based tracks, first mashed together around 5 years ago as of September. I don’t have access to them, unfortunately.

How would you describe your sound?

Dark, atmospheric and gritty. Those are the key points of my sound. However these are not set in stone.

Are there any producers or DJ’s that you look towards for inspiration?

Definitely. A few artists I’ve been listening to are SVDDEN DEATH, Moore Kismet, Ravachol and JOYRYDE. These four artists have their own unique place in the EDM community!

What’s your favourite aspect of creating music? Is there a process or feeling that never gets old?

My favourite aspect of music production definitely has to be the sound design. When I open up a synthesizer plug-in, it gives me the opportunity to create something totally alien and unique each and every time, and there’s something satisfying about that. There’s no telling what you could create if you put this set of effects on this certain sound.

Let’s chat about your fantastic remix of Alice Chater’s track ‘Two Of Us’. How did this collaboration happen?

Having connections is the most important thing. I was asked by my management team if I wanted to remix her track, which blew me away entirely. I immediately had ideas about how the track could be laid out and what I could do to put my own spin on it.

You’ve dropped bangers like ‘Ibiza’ and ‘Two Of Us’ remix, when will we be getting more new music from. SNARL?

End of September. Keep an eye out.

Looking ahead, what do you hope to achieve as an artist?

To be honest, I just want to get my music heard, for now. Getting people to listen to my tracks and think to themselves, “Who is this?”
