Meet The Emerging British Pop Talent…Josie Proto
Josie Proto is a rising pop act that’s making waves with her relatable and honest music. Inspired by the likes of Carole King and Nina Simone, Proto’s music highlights everyday life and creative storytelling. Since making her debut earlier this year, the songstress has secured a dedicated fan base, accumulated over 500k+ Spotify streams, and has 6M+ plays for her TikTok videos. With more new music on the way, there seem to be no signs of the songstress slowing down.

What song is a MUST for your getting ready routine?
It’s gotta be Lizzo ‘Like A Girl’. It’s such a good hype song, it just makes you feel so powerful and I just love Lizzo. That whole album I can just listen to that whole album for days and days.
What’s been your favourite type of lunch during this quarantine so far?
Cake! I’ve eaten a considerable amount of cake over quarantine. It’s bad… I could be addicted. It’s really a bad thing to be addicted to?

What’s the most unexpected activity or hobby you started?
My boyfriend and I have saved up lots of money, we have this adventure fund, so we spent some money from it on kayaks. We bought ourselves two kayaks! So we’ve been kayaking a lot, it’s great fun and I love it!
What’s your dream self-isolation location?
Somewhere hot! I’m definitely a hot place kind of girl. I’d love to go to Australia, I think Australia would be great.
If you could isolate with three of your favourite artists alive or no longer with us who would it be?
1: Elton John: I think he would be such a laugh.
2: Carole King: She’s a legend.
3: Lizzo: Imagine Lizzo and Elton John in the same room?! It would be stellar, that would be class!
What’s your quarantine drink order?
It’s hot chocolate. I’m such a bad 19 year old! I’ve been drinking too many hot chocolates. I can’t even count the amount of hot chocolates I’ve had over the past few months. It’s bad! It’s chocolate in general, i’m such a sucker for chocolate.
Thoughts on the BBC show Normal People?
Ah it’s a masterpiece! It’s such a good series, I watch it in 2 days! It was like under 36 hours I think I watch all of them in. I am massively obsessed with all the actors, I think they are fantastic.
What’s your go-to song for a dance party sesh?
I’m such a sucker for the classics! I will always go for the one that I know will be bangers. Everyone dances to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and everyone dances to ‘Sweet Caroline’!
