Meet The Emerging Indie-Pop Sensation Grady

Emerging LA-based artist Grady is a rising talent that needs to be on your radar. At an early age, the singer-songwriter developed a passion for music. Citing industry legend, Beck as one of his inspirations, Grady was drawn to writing music out of his cerebral consciousness. With a dynamic songwriting process and unique indie-pop sound, Grady embarked on his artistic journey. In 2018 he made his official debut with his lo-fi single ‘Garden’, which became a hit with music lovers.

On top of creating his own music, Grady has co-written, produced and collaborated with Ant Saunders, Bryce Vine, Noah Cyrus, and The Chainsmokers. With over 40 million collective streams and numerous chart-topping singles, Grady is ready to dominate your music playlists for the rest of 2021. We were able to chat with him about everything from his new single ‘All In’, the accompanying music video, and his upcoming music releases. Read the full interview below.

Hey Hey Grady! How are you feeling at this moment?

Hello Master Spindle. I feel like my head is out the window, and ABBA is blasting, and someone’s rubbing shoulders, and this popsicle is delicious.

Can you believe May is right around the corner? If you had to rate the month of April between 1 to 10, what would you say?

It’s really hard for me to complain these days even if there’s things I’d like to improve or change. I’m an Aries baby so I always love this time of year. My mom always cooks a bunch of my friends dinner for my birthday.

Alright let’s chat about the music. Going to take it back a bit. When did you first fall in love with music?

I think my parents playing B52’s and Erykah Badu when I was like four initially showed me how much I loved music, and my mom has a guitar at her house that her brother found on Catalina Island when they were kids. It was the first instrument I played.

Did you always know you were going to be an artist? Were there other career paths that caught your eye?

Up until I was around 15 I thought I would be a marine biologist. Which is hilarious to think about now, though I still am really passionate about ocean life. Limit plastic usage pretty please!

Do you remember the first track you ever produced and wrote?

I think so, I used to have a DJ project with my friend Stefan, and I’m pretty sure the first song we made was called ‘Personal Meditation’. It’s still on Soundcloud somewhere.

Let’s talk about your fantastic track ‘All In!’ Can you take us through the creative process of the record?

Aw fantastic?  It’s in the same category of songs of mine as Can You Hear The Moon, where I really don’t remember making it. I had the general layout of the song done in like 15 minutes. I vomit out most of my favorite songs. Flow state is a real thing.  

What themes or meanings did you want fans to take away after listening to the track?

Love fearlessly! If something makes you feel that good, it’s worth putting your heart on the line for. I feel like I threw a Pokeball at the feeling of falling for someone with reckless abandon and I caught it. Most of the what’s coming up is like that honestly.

We have to talk about your video for the single? What inspired the visual’s story?

It’s nothing crazy, I just thought it would be funny for me to fall for Sam’s mom.

With your new single making the rounds, what can fans expect from Grady in the coming months?

A release schedule way too slow for how much music I have to put out, but a lot more musical sunshine. No frowns permitted. I really do love this new body of work though. It’s the soundtrack to a wonderful life.
