Introducing The Charismatic Talent Tai Verdes

Backed by a feel-good sound and cool style, emerging talent Tai Verdes is making his mark in the music sphere. The 25-year-old artist first got his start at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Working as an essential worker, the singer-songwriter honed his craft on his off hours before making his debut with ‘Stuck In The Middle’. The record went on to become a huge hit on streaming services and the popular social media app, TikTok. Over the course of the year, Verdes and his music have amassed over 80 million streams and 2.3 million TikTok video creations.

The emerging talent continued to impress music listeners with the release of ‘BAD BAD News’, ‘Drugs’, and ‘we would have some cute kids’. With his new single ‘A-O-K’ making the rounds and his fanbase continuing to grow, Tai Verdes is proving to be a musical force to be reckoned with. We were able to chat with the Los Angeles based artist about everything from his new release, potential debut album, working with Kiana Ledé and more. Read the full interview below.

Hey Tai! Thanks for sitting down with us today. How’s it going? 

I am motherf*cking beautiful!

How has 2021 been treating you? Can you believe it’s already May?

It’s ridiculous. Just last year I was helping old people figure out how to unlock your phone.

Okay, let’s dive into the music! Can you describe the moment you wanted to pursue music? 

Music has always been in my life. But I never made a solid decision to do music. It was a solid decision to get better at the music I was making.

Looking back to your high school playlists, which artists fueled your creative fire? 

In high school, I was a super into Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Chance The Rapper.  Any artist that created their own lane I hold super high in my mind. 

Your music evokes such a calm and warm vibe. How would you personally describe your style and sound? 

I’m just doing whatever makes me feel good. It could be a happy song or a sad song but It has to connect with me.  

We have got to talk about your fantastic track ‘Stuck In The Middle’. How does it feel to have heard your track featured on millions of videos?

It’s crazy to think about, but honestly, I’ve seen my song on TikTok less than 20 times. I can’t believe so many people have heard the song.

On top of being a smash hit, the single also received a remix treatment with Kiana Ledé. How did you two end up linking up?

Our managers connected and she just did the rest. She is so talented. She really killed ‘Stuck in The Middle’ Part 2.

You’ve just released your feel-good single A-O-K! Can you take us through the creative process for the record? What message or theme did you explore with this song?

I wrote this song with Adam Friedman. He showed me a couple of loops he had been working on and when I heard the one for ‘A-O-K,’ I was like… this shit is hot. I just want everyone to know who listens to the song to feel 2% better than they did before they pressed play.

Will we be getting an accompanying video for the track? 

Hell ya.

With five incredible singles making the rounds, will fans be getting a debut album or EP soon?

Definitely not. Definitely not releasing an album called TV that chronicles my time of the last four years as a television show in which I drop out of college, met a girl, go through a breakup and come to terms with trying to be happy alone. Definitely not happening.

If you could look five years into the future, what do you hope to see? 

There is no “hope.” I control my own destiny and I will be whatever I decide. I haven’t figured it out yet, but once I do, it’s over.
