Introducing The Passionate Emerging Talent… Mimi Webb

If you’re a lover of relatable Pop music that explores love, heartbreak and empowerment, then Mimi Webb is the artist for you. The emerging talent first got her start in music at the age of 13 by writing songs in her diary. As the years went on Mimi continued to hone her craft as a singer, guitarist and storyteller. After attending the renowned British Institute of Modern Music, the ‘Good Without’ singer landed a deal with Epic Records and officially started her journey in the industry. In 2020, Mimi released her debut track ‘Before I Go’ which amassed over 15 million Spotify streams and 688k YouTube views.

Fast forward to 2021 and the young talent has a total of five singles under her belt including her latest release ‘Dumb Love.’ Backed by her signature vocals and emotive lyrics, the track showcases Mimi’s versatility as a Pop act. With her latest single making the rounds, a dedicated fan base and plans to release more music in the coming months, 2021 is looking to be the year of Mimi Webb. We were able to chat with the songstress about everything from her new single, writing process, and more. Read the full interview below.

Heya Mimi, thanks for joining us! Before we start, we have to shout out your latest Ellen performance! I bet you’re still buzzing? 

Omg it was amazing!! Such a surreal moment, I still can’t get over it and even believe it happened! I’m still watching the video every day! 

Let’s dive into your music beginnings. What type of artists did you grow up listening to? 

I grew up listening to Adele & Amy Winehouse, I have also always loved Nat King Cole. I just really love music that gives that goosebumps effect. 

Do you remember your “ah-ha” moment that inspired you to pursue music full time?

I think it was when I was 15 years old and had finished all my exams & I had the option to leave school to go and pursue music, that was when it really clicked for me that I can really make this happen. 

We hear you attended the renowned BIMM (Brighton Music College) at the age of 16. What key lessons from your time as a student do you still apply to your creative process today?

Definitely time management & networking, they were the 2 key lessons I learnt there and it has really taken me through my career and helped so much.  

Listening to your music evokes such empowering energy. How would you personally describe your sound? 

I think it’s definitely a mixture between emotional ballad & pop, I love to bring the two elements together in the production & lyrics.

Okay, we need to talk about your track ‘Dumb Love’! Absolutely amazing! Can you take us through the inspiration behind the record?  

It was such a fun song to record, dumb love really has that emotional powerful song but I loved putting together the pop elements in on the production, it’s really all about having that first love feeling that never ends, & it’s kind of like that teenage love song where everything stays the same.

What themes or meanings do you want listeners to take away after listening?

I just want listeners to feel that real feeling like they’ve listened to something with a connection, and I really want people to feel they can open up to themselves within their emotions, it’s the most strongest thing we have.

We need to know…will there be a Mimi Webb EP or album coming soon? 

Yes! Definitely an EP on the way or even an album!! We’re taking it with the singles so far but working on new music & I really can’t wait to share it all! 

Can you give us a sneak peek at what fans can expect from you in the coming months? 

Lots of shows! Definitely lots of new music & just exciting opportunity on the way, I’m so excited to share it all with everyone!
