SZA Shares Update On Highly Anticipated Second Album

Beloved R&B talent SZA has finally given an update regarding her highly anticipated sophomore album. Back in 2017, the ‘Drew Barrymore’ singer released her critically acclaimed debut album Ctrl. Featuring massive talents like Kendrick Lamar and Isaiah Rashad, the record went on to earn numerous awards and catapulted SZA to new heights of music stardom. However, since dropping the aforementioned album, fans have been clamouring for the release of her second LP – which she has teased over the last couple of years.

In a recent interview with Complex, SZA opened up about her new album and gave some bittersweet news about its release. “I don’t even know what this album is about and what it sounds like,” she explained to the publication. “Which is why I had to go to the mode of what feels good to my brain and to my energy and the songs that I think are hot, I just go with them.”

SZA went on to say that the new record is “a little bit of everything” – which she described as “a little aggressive” and “incredibly soft.” “I don’t know. It’s all over the place. It’s just where my heart is,” she added. Elsewhere in the interview, SZA revealed that she’s living her “ideal situation” regarding her music release timeframe. “I don’t have any deadlines because, at the end of the day, when my s**t comes out, it comes out,” she explained. “And if ever I lose my ability to choose, I have no problem vacating my current life and doing something different. I’m not glued to being an artist for the rest of my life or anything for that matter. I’m seeing where it takes me.”

Even though it may be a while for SZA’s second album to be released, fans have plenty of music to sink their teeth into. Back in June, the young talent released a deluxe edition of Ctrl in honour of its fifth anniversary. The record featured six unreleased songs, including an alternate version of her hit single ‘Love Galore.’
