Spindle Radar: Vedo Navigates Love And Relationships On His New Project ‘Mood Swings’

R&B star Vedo has had a meteoric rise over the last few years – his sixth studio album, ‘Mood Swings’, is out now, which has been described as his most versatile project to date, navigating the many complexities of love and relationships.

A long-time mentee of multi-Grammy-award winning Usher for 10 years, Vedo was recently featured on his NPR Tiny Desk session alongside Eric Bellinger, which went viral with over 14 million views. 

Working with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as global megastar Chris Brown and Tink, on the new album, ‘Mood Swings’ has been described as his most versatile project to date, navigating the many complexities of love and relationships.

We sat down with Vedo to chat about the new album, working with some of the biggest names in the business and his plans and dreams for the future.

Hey Vedo, thanks for chatting with us. How has your 2023 been so far?

2023 has started off amazing, new album, new goals, new me.

Your new album, Mood Swings, has been described as your most versatile project to date. What was the creative process for this album like?

The creative process was me stepping out of my comfort zone. I’m used to recording and writing everything myself, but I decided to take a different approach and allow some amazing collaborators to come in and help. 

You’ve collaborated with some incredible names over the years, with Chris Brown and Tink on the new album. How did it feel to work with them both on the project?

It felt amazing to know that an artist of that caliber respects me enough as an artist to be willing to collaborate with me. That lets me know my work is being taken seriously. 

Do you have a favourite track on the album, and why? 

My favorite track is “Waterfalls”, simply because that is what real R&B sounds like.

You have an amazing relationship with Usher, and your Tiny Desk performance from last year was a huge hit. How did your relationship with Usher come about? 

It first started on The Voice in 2013 when he became my coach. Ever since then, it’s been an amazing brotherhood. 

Taking it back to the beginning — what inspired you to start making music? 

Music was always an escape for me. Growing up, I was homeless a lot and to keep my mind off of it, I would listen to music. 

Who are some other dream collaborators you’d love to work with in the future?

Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Drake

Any goals you’d love to achieve in the next few years with your music? 

A Grammy, more platinum plaques, movie syncs 

What are your plans for the rest of 2023? 

My plan is to just keep following God’s Plan.
