Meet Libby Whitehouse, Brighton’s New Emerging Pop Star

Introducing Brighton-based newcomer Libby Whitehouse and her debut single ‘OMG’. Possessing the attitude of a 2010’s pop star, and a voice that could challenge the icons of the early ’00s, 23 year old Libby is very much a pop star in waiting. She is inspired by all the pop queens who came before her; Katy Perry, Miley Cryrus, Elton John – as fascinated by the style and costumes, as she is about the music. Not just talented vocally, her personal blend of smart, witty and honest lyricism is the unmistakable driving force behind Libby’s sound – writing big pop songs to inspire all Gen Z’ers.

Hi Libby – how does it feel to finally have your debut single out in the world? 

It feels amazing!!! I’ve been in the studio for so long writing so much music so for it to finally see the light of day and not just on my laptop is so exciting!!

Tell us more about writing the track in Stockholm!

So I wrote ‘OMG’ in Stockholm during on of the worst snow storms they’ve ever had, I had just landed and had to lug round a 20kg suitcase from the airport to the studio (I can’t pack light haha) as soon as I got there I said to Maia and Dino, I’m sick of the cold weather and sick of dating because I don’t fancy anyone so let’s write a pop song that feels like summer and reminds me of how it feels to have a crush on someone, I was manifesting haha!!

Pop, fun and flamboyant

Honest, fun and welcoming

What’s the best thing about growing up in Brighton AKA the party capital of the UK?

The best thing about growing up in Brighton is definitely the people and the vibe. Everyone is so creative and welcoming of each other, you’re never made to feel like you’re too much or your dreams are too big, people wear what they want and are never afraid to be themselves which I love and what I want my music to embody too, Brighton is the best place ever.

What does 2024 have in store for you, is there more music coming soon? 

I have so much music coming out in 2024 and I am so ready and excited, maybe some shows too! Hope you guys like pop music because I’ve written a lot of it!! I can’t wait for you to hear it all
