Hey Bana, thanks for taking the time to chat with us! Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! My name is Bana, I’m 23 years old, and I’m a singer/songwriter from Kurdistan. I’m very happy to do this interview with you guys—thank you so much for having me.
Your newest single, ‘Bag of Hearts,’ is finally out! Can you reveal the meaning behind it? How would you describe your sound?
“Bag of Hearts” is a song that I’ve kept a secret for two years, and I’m thrilled it’s finally out. It showcases a side of me that my fans haven’t seen before. I see it as a key to opening a new era of my music. I’ve been singing for seven years, but this is the first time I’m releasing a song that feels like a reflection of my intrusive thoughts. I’ve always loved songs that make me feel unapologetic and a little bit insane, and “Bag of Hearts” definitely has those flavors.

You appeared on Kurd Idol at the age of 16. What was it like entering a TV singing competition at such a young age, and how did it feel to experience overnight success from your performances?
Starting my music career at 16 sounds exciting and fun, but the reality was that it made me grow up faster than I wanted to. It put a lot of pressure on me, but I’ve always been someone who doesn’t mind pressure—I use it to make the best out of whatever I’m doing. Looking back, I’m super proud of my younger self for taking such a huge step without fully realizing it. It definitely changed my life.
Who are your biggest musical influences, and why?
My biggest musical influences are Beyoncé, One Direction, Little Mix, and definitely Ariana Grande. I grew up on their music and art, and they’ve had a huge impact on me.
Outside of music, what do you enjoy doing?
Working out is a big part of my life. Taking care of my mental and physical health has always been a priority because if I feel my best, I’ll do my best, and that reflects in my music too.

Can you tell us anything about your upcoming music?
My upcoming EP is a piece of me that I’ve kept in the dark for quite some time now. It’s finally ready to be out in the world, and I’m excited to connect with whoever gets to hear it.
What has been your favorite memory in your career so far? Can we catch you at any shows soon?
I have a lot of favorite memories in my career, but if I had to choose one, it would be when I was told that I had the opportunity to travel to the UK and expand as an artist. As for shows, I definitely hope to have some in the near future!
And finally, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
The “delulu” (delusional) answer is that I’ve collabed with one of my favorite artists, established a solid foundation for my artistry globally, and am probably touring around the world too. But honestly, the real answer is the same as the “delulu” answer—plus continuing to learn, grow, and reach my full potential as an artist.
