Introducing Emerging Singer-Songwriter And Multi-Instrumentalist… Sophia Scott

Hailing from Boulder, Colorado, the rising talent started her music journey as a child, taking up piano and guitar. After learning the ins and outs of the aforementioned instruments, Sophia began composing songs of her own, further developing her unforgettably candid songwriting voice upon kicking off her music career in Los Angeles.

Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Sophia is blazing her own bold trail to country music stardom. With a rare gift for raw yet exquisitely detailed storytelling — and a one-of-a-kind sound infused with elements of Southern Rock, Pop, R&B, and Soul — the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist has amassed over 133 million career streams. Hey Sophia! Thanks for chatting to us today, how has your 2024 been?

It’s been a truly awesome year and quite a journey.  Ending on a high note for sure.

You just released your brand new single ‘Tumbleweed’, can you tell us about the meaning behind this song?

Tumbleweed tells the story of a relationship where one partner, often seen as a rebellious, untamed spirit (me), begins to soften and change in the presence of someone who offers them unconditional love and understanding. It’s a tribute to the idea that love is not about changing someone into something they’re not, but rather, it’s about helping them realize who they can truly be when they feel accepted and understood. It’s a declaration that even the most misunderstood, complicated people deserve a chance at happiness and transformation.

Do you have any studio rituals that help to spark creativity?

I like to light sage and candles in my house, do some deep breathing exercises and sometimes write for 20 minutes in my journal just a stream of consciousness.

Your music spans many genres including country, rock, pop, and R&B. What artists have helped shape your sound?

SO many, but to name a few – Fleetwood Mac, Shania, Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, James Taylor, Mariah Carey.

What’s your favourite career moment to date?

Hard to say, but my favorite moment of this year was getting to play my first ever sold out show in London and having the whole crowd sing every word.

If there’s one message you hope your fans take away from your music, what would that be?

Being heard and understood.

What’s been your favourite release so far?

Probably Buy A Round because it went so viral on tik tok and is such a fun jam.  It was really fun to ride that high.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Trust your gut.

If you weren’t doing music, what would you be doing?

Probably something with animals or something in fashion.

New album coming!!!
