Introducing The Indie-Rock Parisian Duo… Kids Return
Emerging indie-rock duo Kids Return are ready to make another exciting splash in the music sphere. In 2021, close friends Adrien Rozé and Clément Savoye burst onto the scene with dynamic singles like ‘Our Love’ and ‘Melody.’ Infused with sounds from the iconic French Touch and Britpop movements, Kids Return’s debut set the stage for their dynamic artistry and immersive storytelling. However, in October 2022, the duo’s music adventure truly started after they dropped their first album ‘Forever Melodies.’ In the months following its release, Adrien and Clément went from a filming live session at the legendary Motorbass studio to playing sold-out shows at highly prestigious Paris venues, including La Maroquinerie and La Cigale.
In addition to their takeover in Europe, the band brought the album and their talents to the US and Japan – playing the iconic Red Rocks amphitheatre in Colorado and the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo, respectively. Fortunately for fans, Kids Return are showing no signs of slowing down in 2025. In January, they kicked off their new music era with ‘All Yours Now’ – a minimalist and intimate pop ballad backed by refined songwriting, reinvented production, and a metronomic tension. We were able to sit down with Adrien and Clément to chat about the emotional new track, their creative process, and so much more.
Hey Kids Return, thanks for chatting with us today! Please introduce yourselves to our readers.
Hi! We are Adrien and Clément from Paris, and we’ve been best friends since we were 13.
You just released your new single ‘All Yours Now.’ How does it feel to have this track out in the world?
It feels amazing! This song is really important to us. It has been like a common thread throughout the process of making this record. We put a lot of care into its production – keeping it minimalistic and pure, with a lot of space.
What is the best part about making music together as friends?
There are so many! But we think the best part is catching a melody together in the studio and feeling excited about it for the first time. Playing a show and seeing the crowd sing along is an incredible feeling too.
How would you define your sound, and how has it evolved over time?
Our sound is organic and lively, but it has evolved with the way we produced our upcoming album. The process was much more free – our only rule was to trust our instincts and go with what we liked. For example, we recorded some parts on tape in the studio and then layered samples, MPC beats, and other elements on top.
What music did you grow up listening to, and do you think it has influenced the music you make now?
We grew up listening to a lot of rock. In college, we were huge fans of Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes, but we also loved a lot of ’60s and ’90s bands. All of these influences naturally blend into our music, alongside our love for film soundtracks – we’re really inspired by cinematic scores as well.
Where has been your favorite place to perform so far?
Playing at Summer Sonic in Tokyo was the best experience of our lives. We had been dreaming of going there for a long time, and both the trip and the show were unforgettable.
How do you get inspired when you’re in the studio?
We love to escape to a remote house in the Pyrenees Mountains to get inspired. We pack all our gear into the car and drive across France, just the two of us. When we arrive, we always set up our studio in a big room with lots of windows, surrounded by the mountains. While making music, we watch eagles flying, horses running, and the sun setting – it’s an incredible environment for creativity.
What piece of advice would you give to other musicians in the industry right now?
Be as sensitive as possible, stay true to what you love, and give yourself all the means necessary to make it happen!
And finally, can you reveal any plans for the rest of 2025?
Yes! We’ll be releasing our second album and heading back on tour – we’re so excited about it!
