Words Spindle

The dreamy and whimsical Blossom Caldarone is an artist that is perfect for your pop escapism. The emerging songstress is quickly making her way through the music scene. With her booking a self-curated bi-monthly night ‘Dancing Diana,’ releasing her latest track ‘Perfect Too’ and gearing up for her new EP, Caldarone is steadily making her mark in music.

Her upcoming EP ‘Not My Stories To Tell’ is a representation of the singer-songwriter experiencing life through lenses of other people rather than her own.

We got a chance to chat with Blossom Caldarone about everything from music, Dancing Diana and more…

What inspired your new track ‘Perfect Too’?

A dream I had about waking up as someone really famous. I lived a complete different life for the day and remember there being no people in the dream. It made me think about how, despite thinking otherwise, that nobody is perfect. Just like you and me!

When you’re in the studio what drives drives you creatively?

When I’m in the studio, I always make sure I’m in a place to write. I prioritise spending time doing different things with different people; interactions inspire me the most. The “getting your head down” attitude doesn’t work for me in terms of songwriting. I need to be living my personal life to the fullest to create the best songs! So as long as I’m doing that, I’m always creatively stimulated as there’s so much to write about in the world.

Are you working on a EP or album?

I’ve been working on an EP ‘Not My Stories To Tell’ for the last few months, the full EP will be out this Autumn. It’s definitely a story-telling EP as pose to about me.

How did land your own self-curated bi-monthly night ‘Dancing Diana’?

It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while to celebrate all the great music! There is so much new music out there and instead of being daunted by it, I’m embracing it. It’s easy to be pitted against each other in music and that’s not really me. I’ve loved having something on the side of my own music that is just for pure enjoyment.

Which artist helped shape you and your music?

This is one of the hardest questions! I love so many different types of music. I’d say the main artist that I always go back to and never fails me is Billy Joel. I love the way he’s consistently so piano based and his lyrics are amazing. I value songs on how they make me feel at the end and I always feel something with his songs. Listening to his songs always reminds me that the most amazing situations and stories can be found in the most boring of places.

What are 5 goals you want to achieve as an artist?

  • To still be releasing songs until I’m old and no one wants to see me anymore
  • To play shows all over with a band and fanbase I love
  • To play the NYE show with Jools Holland, it’s been something I’ve watched every year with my parents since I was little
  • Live, write and play in a different city for a year
  • Inspire other people in whatever way; whether it’s to release their own music, say something, do something, accept something! Just be a positive voice generally

How have you and your music evolved since your 2017 debut?

I think I’ve grown up a bit since 2017? I’ve had a lot of time to think about everything I want, not just out of music but out of life generally. I’m in a much better personal place now than I was then and I feel more ready than ever to do what I love!
