Introducing AUGUST 08
Signed to the label and media company 88 Rising and Red Bull Records, singer/songwriter AUGUST 08 has released his new 6-track EP. Having started as a songwriter and producer AUGUST 08 was able to hone his talent before releasing music of his own. His EP ‘Happy Endings*’ features collaborations with industry heavyweight Goldlink and AUGUST 08’s personal friend and long-time collaborator Duckwrth.
We caught up with AUGUST 08 on everything from his new EP to how he got started in music.
Tell us about your recent EP Happy Endings*?
Happy endings with an asterisk is a project about duality. If there’s happiness there’s sadness vice versa. I wanted to channel both emotions and relate them to my relationships with people.
Where do you take inspiration from in your lyrics?
Girls. Lots and lots of girls between me and my primary co write Barney Bones. We date a lot of women and we talk about our relationships and put that into words
You’ve collabed with some great artists such as Goldlink and Duckwrth on the EP, how do you approach a collaboration and what’s the process like for you?
Goldlink was me aiming for the moon, I wanted someone dope who can make dance records bounce. Duckwrth that’s my brother we’ve been creating together for years and he’s no brainer one of the most talented artists I’ve ever met in my life
Who’s an artist you’d love to collab with in the future?
Jaekwon
How did you start out in music?
My cuz in Reako had a P.C. with fruity loops, and the rest is history
What’s your craziest memory of performing/touring?
My greatest memory would be playing the shrine in LA for the first time. It was my second show and I felt like the world stopped when I hit the stage.
