The 1975 frontman Matty Healy made his way on stage in a hospital gown during the band’s Sunday show – following a bout of serious illness.
The group had previously canceled their Saturday performance at the Laneway Festival in Brisbane, taking to Twitter the band released a statement ‘Unfortunately after a medical examination at 5.30 pm today, the doctor has advised that Matty is too weak to play.’
Following the announcement, Matty Healy took to his personal twitter to reassure fans that he was ‘alive and well’, and that ‘shit just got way too vibey I’m still taking it easy, but I’ll see you tonight for maybe quite a calm set which could be nice anyway!!’. Thanking his fans for all the well-wishes, the singer announced that the band’s following show was still on in Sydney.
The singer came back for the Sydney show in a big way, arriving onstage clad in a hospital gown and surgical mask, with an IV in tow. The band launched into a less-than-calm rendition of ‘People’ with a sea of fans screaming along.
