Sam Wills and Honey Mooncie – Traingazing
Sam Wills collaboration with 18-year-old Honey Mooncie was a match made in heaven for this low-key track. It’s effortless mix of jazz, soul, and R&B make for a fresh sound and another marker of the British singer’s skillful songwriting.
BROCKHAMPTON – SUGAR (Dua Lipa Remix)
American boy band Brockhampton remixed a song off their 2019 album ‘GINGER.’ The new version features Dua Lipa, who blends into the R&B feel of the song perfectly. With the original ‘SUGAR’ being the group’s biggest hit, the remix had some big shoes to fill–and it does so with ease.
Pat Lagoon – Take Time
Irish rapper Pat Lagoon released his second single of 2020 today, ‘Take Time.’ The song shows the up-and-comer’s promise, and talent for creating smooth hip hop tracks.
Dermot Kennedy – Resolution
Demot Kennedy’s new song comes amid a U.S. tour, and is a cover of Australian artist Matt Corby. The song comes as a part of a charity album titled ‘Songs for Australia,’ which was organized by Julia Stone in an effort to contribute to aid for the country’s wildfires. The cover, with it’s simple guitar-and-vocals setup, is exactly what makes the Irish singer’s powerful vocals shine the brightest.
Trevor Daniel – Past Life
Trevor Daniel’s new song starts as an acoustic ballad and builds into another pop banger. The style switch-up is a refreshing change in pace and a testament to Daniel’s range as an artist.
Alaina Castillo – ocean views
Alaina Castillo is a Youtube star from Texas making ‘ocean waves’ this week – this dreamy song will bring you to a happy place. ‘Ocean waves’ comes less than four months after she released her debut EP antisocial butterfly.
Katy Perry – Never Worn White
‘Never Worn White’ is a sentimental song about finding love, marriage, and starting a family. The icon leaves behind her typical punchy pop anthems for a tear-jerking ballad. Katy Perry revealed a baby bump at the end of the music video to confirm she is expecting her first child with Orlando Bloom.
Róisín Murphy – Murphy’s Law
Powerhouse Róisín Murphy returns with the funky eight-minute single ‘Murphy’s Law’. Her brand of seductive singing with disco electronics will have you losing yourself on the dancefloor. She is set to play at the 6 Music Festival in London on March 7th.
Alec Benjamin – The Book of You & I
Alec Benjamin’s “The Book of You & I” is a song about remembering the best parts of past relationships. The music video is just as nostalgic as the track. Benjamin said on YouTube, “ it wasn’t easy for me to make this vid.. i dont really act and the intimate scenes in front of the camera gave me crazy anxiety .. but it was very important to me that i tell this story the right way .. so i stepped out of my comfort zone .. hope you like it …”
Little Dragon – Are You Feeling Sad
Swedish Electronic Band Little Dragon dropped ‘Are You Feeling Sad’. The beat will leave you feeling anything but – the spacey, uplifting sound leaves you feeling cheery.
Bree Runaway – APESHIT
Pop Phenomenen Bree Runaway released party anthem ‘APESHIT’ this week. The artist goes crazy on the song and in the music video.
Ebenezer – 3AM in London
Ebenezer’s ‘3AM in London’ is a stand out track from his new EP Bad Romantic 2. The London native’s smooth flow and throbbing beat makes for an innovative mixture of hip-hop and RnB. The moody track is the perfect post break-up anthem.
Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn – Breathing Exercises
Brighton-born rap duo Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn’s new album dropped at the end of February. The title track, ‘Breathing Exercises, is an introspective piece touching on everything from anxiety to friendships. The focus on piano on the backing beat makes this a unique and must-listen track.
Bazzi – Young & Alive
American singer Bazzi’s first release of 2020 is bringing the summer early. His newest song brings you back to your favorite childhood memories, like riding bikes around the neighbourhood. It’s the perfect windows-down track to make you feel happy and carefree!
Kabin Krew – Ya Boy
Kabin Crew will be unlike anything else on your playlist. This extremely young rap group’s debut single is unarguably catchy, proving that they’re not just a gimmick about their schoolboy age. The accompanying music video doesn’t shy away from the fact that they’re young, having the boys pose in front of an ice cream truck and even rap inside of a playpen, but don’t banish them to the kid’s table just yet–these boys are about to blow up.
Rina Sawayama – XS
Rina Sawayama’s new single is the throwback to 2000’s R&B that we absolutely needed. Lyrically, the song critiques capitalist society. With lyrics like “Flex/When all that’s left is immaterial/And the price we paid is unbelievable,” the songstress combines her political opinions with an infectious beat on this stellar track.
Sea Girls – Why Wont You Admit
Sea Girls released their newest EP, ‘Under Exit Lights,’ today. The track ‘Why Won’t You Admit’ is the second song off the EP and an indie rock banger. With a catchy chorus and fun synth incorporated, this is a track bound to make its way onto your feel-good playlist.
Luke Sital-Singh – Undefeated
Luke Sital-Singh’s single ‘Undefeated’ is a gorgeous, gentle track about the passing of time. It’s simple guitar and gentle vocals make it the perfect track for Sunday morning easy listening.
Lil Uzi Vert – That Way
Uzi’s newest single, and recently released track list, has left his fans more excited than ever for his upcoming album ‘Eternal Atake.’ ‘That Way’ riffs off The Backstreet Boys’ ‘I Want It That Way,’ and even caught the attention of boy band member Nick Carter on Twitter, who said he ‘freaking LOVES’ the rapper and was thrilled about the song.
Da Beatfreakz, Krept & Konan, D-Block Europe and Deno – Self-Obsessed
Producer duo Da Beatfreakz set out on another monster collaboration and came out with a hit. The song features each rapper bragging about their lifestyles and the finer things in life.
Aitch feat. AJ Tracey – Rain
Aitch and AJ Tracey are a match made in rap heaven. The two are both at the top of their game on this new track produced by Tay Keith, with dizzyingly fast rap that always comes from them with ease. The song comes with a heavily-edited video featuring the two under a purple sky.
Lola Young – Pick Me Up
London-born Lola Young’s new song is a soulful hit. Her powerful voice is front and center with gorgeous, poignant lyrics like ‘there’s no point in “I miss you,” ‘cuz I ain’t never had you to begin with.’ This is the singer’s first song released this year, and is full of promise for what else the year has in store for her.
Isaac Nelson – Mood Fades
Irish singer-songwriter Isaac Nelson released his magnetic debut single ‘Mood Fades’ earlier this week. His poppy flow over a Rnb and trap beat makes for a catchy debut track. The accompanying music video is just as rhythmic with Nelson spinning in a playground to the song. The single comes ahead of his EP later this month.
Niall Horan & FLETCHER – Lover cover
Prior One Direction member Niall Horan and American pop singer-songwriter FLETCHER join forces in the romantic cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’. The duo reinvents the melodic hit with powerful instrumentals and longing vocal chemistry. Swift even posted the cover on her Instagram story saying it was “absolutely stunning”.
Joy Anonymous – JOY (Get Over Me)
Electronic group Joy Anonymous released their first track of 2020. ‘JOY (Get Over Me)’ is a daydreamy song about wanting to break up with your significant other.
Demi Lovato – I Love Me
Pop star Demi Lovato makes her comeback with the inspirational ‘I Love Me’. The most important love is self-love which the American artist makes apparent in her positive lyrics and upbeat beat. In the music video, Demi fights herself in her apartment and bounces around the city in a shiny red trench coat like a boss.
Kamal – homebody
Up-and-coming artist Kamal released the chilled track ‘homebody’ this week. This is the best anthem for a slow day since ‘The Lazy Song’’ – the accompanying music video shows Kamal lounging around his room all day.
M.O. and Mr Eazi – Going Out Of My Way
M.O. and Mr Eazi teamed up to create ‘Going Out Of My Way’. The track, with the accompanying music video, discusses an unfair relationship dynamic in a catchy way. This is the trio’s first single of the year.
Fickle Friends – Eats Me Up
English indie pop band Fickle Friends shared the third song from their upcoming record due later this year. ‘Eats Me Up’ is about digital age addiction and confronts the toxic effects of the internet. The music video is anxiety-provoking matching the theme of the song.
Jhene Aiko – B.S. feat. H.E.R.
‘B.S.’ feat. H.E.R. is one of Jhene Aiko’s latest songs. She sings about something many people can understand – being back on your bulls*** after a breakup. This week, she released Chilombo with 20 new tracks.
