One to watch Qhairo drops a powerful new video for ‘GOD’. The East London polymath is presenting himself as an intriguing, exciting, provocative new talent that fuses smooth R&B, spoken word elements and soulful vocals. He speaks on the visual: ‘I wrote God after having a conversation with a friend about his desires of being a black man (he was white). In God I wanted to highlight the perceptions of living as a black man vs the realities. The idea that we are confident, bold, strong and cool (some of which may be true) leaves little to no room for sensitivity, nurture, fear or vulnerability and is the reason why people say things like they wish they were black. Overall the point of the song was to highlight that blackness is not a monolith and should never be seen as such….with the GOD visualiser I wanted to play with extreme emotions, parts are meant to feel lonely while other parts are meant to feel braggadocious. I wanted the visual to be a similar theme to the song but with more texture almost like you touch the emotions” His new EP ‘60FOOTNOIR’ drops soon and it’s an excellent debut from Qhairo.
