We were able to chat with MAX about the new album, his video for ‘Blueberry Eyes’ and what’s in store in the coming months. Read the full interview below…
Absolutely in love with your track ‘Blueberry Eyes’! What inspired the lyrical content for the record?
Wow thank you! Honored you love it. I wrote the song for my beautiful wife. She’s always my muse for the love songs.
The single also features SUGA from BTS, how did this collaboration come to be?
We’ve been giving love to each other’s music for years online. Finally got to meet in person in Korea in January and became friends after that.

The visual for ‘Blueberry Eyes’ is so beautiful. What type of themes or story did you want to explore with this video?
I really wanted it to feel like Disney meet Wednesday Anderson in the Colour Vision world.
We hear you partnered up with AJR again on your track ‘Working For The Weekend’. During the early stages of the track did you always have the guys in mind to produce the record?
We actually wrote it from scratch together besides the chorus which they showed to me first day we wrote it and they produced it of course. They’re the best!
Your brand new album ‘Colour Vision’ is finally out! Can you take us through the creative process for this record? How does it differ from your debut project?
I really wanted this record to have a full arc and be its own world you can dive into. My favorite artists always do that with their albums. I worked with a lot of different wonderful people but put it upon myself to make sure it all felt cohesive even though the sonic landscape was very diverse.
Which track off the album was the easiest to create and which was more difficult?
Easiest probably blueberry eyes actually. Every part of the process the song was just natural and exciting. Hardest probably “There Is A God”. We had so many different styles of production for the song until we finally brought live strings players in and fleshed it’s out. Was a very difficult to get right but so worth it.

Will we be getting more visuals for the record?
I am definitely obsessed with the visuals so whichever songs the fans gravitate towards we will definitely be making more videos for.
With your brand new album making the rounds, what else can fans expect from you in the coming months?
Oh my gosh so much. I have so many tricks up my sleeve with this record to keep people on their toes. Can’t wait for them to keep experiences it all.
