It’s that time of the week again and we have a new Spindle Selects Playlist for your weekend plans including releases from Will Joseph Cook, Charli XCX, Mysie and more.

Yot Club – u don’t kno me

Lo-fi artist Yot Club taps into the restlessness of being stuck in a monotony in his latest single ‘u don’t kno me’ where he uses jangly pop elements accompanied with breezy guitar strings and smoky choruses that puts us in a reflective mode. Sonically, it has a nostalgic feel to it as the warm tones and contemplative lyrics make you look back.

Snøw – Helpless

With his raw guitar chords and breakneck vocals, Snøw returns with another single titled ‘Helpless’ where he reflects how using substances only offer temporary distraction, but doesn’t really fix the problem. It’s another laidback yet blood-rushing piece that finds Snøw wrestling with the tough realities of overcoming challenges.

Talkless & Marwang – Mind Games

Rising artist Talkless teams up with Marwang for a new pop-punk single ‘Mind Games’ It’s a breezy track where the haunting yet slick vocals of Talkless capture the emotional chaos that one experiences in a toxic relationship. Channeling cheery moodiness, “Mind Games” is a buoyant anthem that takes you on a mental maze.

Still Woozy ft Remi Wolf – Pool

Still Woozy and Remi Wolf have released their beautifully surreal new single and video called ‘Pool’. The single marks the first time that the close friends collaborated on a track together. When discussing the creative process behind ‘Pool’, Remi says: “Pool was such a beautifully natural collaboration – and is a great reflection of how life can just so seamlessly turn into art.” 

Charli XCX – Crash

Charli XCX has finally released her highly anticipated album Crash. The new record effortlessly showcases the singer’s diverse and boundless artistry. On the titular track, Charli embraces both the old and new elements of the pop genre. ‘Baby’, ‘Move Me’ and ‘Used To Know Me’ are also standouts on the record. 

Will Joseph Cook – Little Miss (lo-fi)

If you’re in need of a lighthearted single that describes the butterflies of young love, then look no further ‘Little Miss (lo-fi)’ is for you. Backed by smooth and calming production, Will delivers dreamy lyrics that will leave music listeners floating through the clouds. 

Mysie – birthstones

South-East London native Mysie has shared her soulful new track ‘birthstones’, which is absolutely fantastic. The song’s rich sound is full of wavey guitars and galloping beats. Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Mysie says: ‘It’s about a period of time in lockdown when my relationship was going through a lot of pressure. due to the uncertainty of what was going to happen to our lives.” 

Conor Albert ft Max Pope – Sunflower 

Conor Albert and Max Pope have created the acoustic R&B record with ‘Sunflower’. From the beginning of the track, Conor delivers air vocals that beautifully highly the song’s romantic lyrical content. If you’re having trouble expressing your feelings for that special someone, ‘Sunflower’ is your song. 

KennyHoopla – DIRTY WHITE VANS//

KennyHoopla returns with the Travis Barker and Dwilly produced track DIRTY WHITE VANS//. The high energy record takes the emerging singer’s signature sound to new heights. “Travis and I were just in the studio, and I wanted to make some rap shit to kind of show a different side of me. Dwilly and Travis made the beat. I caught a vibe and wrote to it…”

Zoe Wees – Lonely

Zoe Wees’ has dropped another addictive track with ‘Lonely’. The immersive single tackles the topic of mental health and the weaker moments the singer faced in her healing journey. Speaking on the song, Zoe explained, “Releasing music has created so many new, great friendships and given me so many opportunities, however, I’ve often found myself in a lonely place even in a crowded room. And many of my friends felt the same way. I realized that you could have great people around you but still feel lonely. 

Saya Gray – IF THERE’S NO SEAT IN THE SKY (WILL YOU FORGIVE ME???) 

Canadian-Japanese singer-songwriter Saya Gray shines on her new single ‘IF THERE’S NO SEAT IN THE SKY (WILL YOU FORGIVE ME???)’. Described as a song with “no bounds”, the production contains crashing guitars and fiery vocals before abruptly transitioning to a softer hushed sound. The track’s complexity truly sets Saya Gray in her own musical lane.

Imen Siar – Lonely People

Rising artist Imen Siar continues her music take over with her brand new single ‘Lonely People’. On the record, the Imen delivers strong vocals that convey the single’s lyrical content to the fullest. Speaking on the inspiration for the track, Imen says: ‘Lonely People’ touched me the first moment I heard it. Probably the only thing more contagious than Covid right now is isolation and loneliness, so the idea of ending loneliness spoke to me.”

Elaine – Shine 

R&B songstress Elaine shared her first single of 2022, ‘Shine’. The track, which was co-written with Brittany B, is a sensual and dreamy entry in her steadily growing catalogue. “‘Shine’ is exactly what it feels like to loosen your grip and let go of fear, more particularly the fear of love, in all its forms,” she explained. 

Orion Sun – pressure 

Brooklyn-based talent Orion Sun has released her brand new EP Getaway alongside her lead single ‘pressure’. Based on the singer’s journey of self-discovery and healing, the single is the perfect track to listen to during a cozy night in. Speaking on the record Orion says:” ‘Pressure’ is a confession. I’m strong and weak. I don’t like to complain but I do sometimes. This is just expressing the doubts and fears and weight that I carry.”

yunè pinku – DC Rot

Producer and Singer yunè pinku has dropped her genre-melding track, ‘DC Rot’. The single, which is framed as a nod to skateboarding culture, is filled with finely balanced chords and infectious melodies alongside angst vocals. “DC rot is an exploration of a year and all the things you do in one. Whether it’s coming out of hibernation and getting older, experiencing in excess whether that be negative or positive,” Pinku said of the release. 

Bad Boy Chiller Crew ft French The Kid, MIST, Bugzy Malone – BMW

Bradford talents Bad Boy Chiller Crew tap U.K rap elite on the remix for their high energy single ‘BMW’. French The Kid, MIST and Bugzy Malone deliver fantastic bars alongside an even greater production.
