Words Spindle

Since the world opened up again after the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s been a new sense of appreciation and love for the dancefloor; nothing beats going out for a drink and dance with our friends, whether in a small local bar, or at the city’s most swanky club. Canadian DJ’s Ryan Trasolini and Zach Stadnyk launched The Banker Boys with the aim to capture this fresh feeling of euphoria and togetherness, to bottle that real sense of connection, especially though music. With this in mind, they have released white-hot summer smash ‘Out Of My Head’, featuring vocal powerhouse, Shawn Hook, and co-written by Stryv (also a producer for the likes of Ty Dolla $ign).

The Banker Boys are all about injecting a little bit of glamour into normal life, taking on this fresh era of post-pandemic nightlife. This glamour is perhaps taken from the duo’s background in investment banking and venture captialism (yes, they are Banker Boys by name, and nature!), but with a satirical edge. Continuing to garner global audiences and having already performed in some of the most scenic locations across the world, Spindle sat down with these major ones to watch!

Hey Banker Boys! How are you today? For those that may not yet know you, tell us a little bit about yourselves!

Hey there, we’re The Banker Boys and we’re feeling tremendous today! We’re a dynamic Canadian dynamic DJ duo ready to drop our melodic dance tracks on the world. We called ourselves The Banker Boys because we, Zach and Ryan, both have investment banking backgrounds. We’re combing our passions here for the love of music and starting companies, and believe we’re the worlds first deal-and-disc jockey duo. We can’t wait to share our music with the world.

Congratulations on the release of ‘Out Of My Head’, it’s a summer banger! What’s the premise of this track and how does it differ or carry on from your debut single ‘Eyes’?

Thank you so much! We’re thrilled about the release of ‘Out of My Head’ and we’re glad you’re loving it too. This track is all about embracing the carefree spirit of summer and letting go of inhibitions. It’s a continuation of the vibe with introduced with our debut single ‘Eyes’, but ‘Out of My Head’ takes it up a notch with an even catchier melody, infections hooks, and a beat to get everyone moving.

You’re both Vancouver natives. What’s the music scene like there and what did you grow up listening to?

Vancouver’s music scene is vibrant and diverse; Canada is home to some of the world’s largest recording artists and we’re proud to call it home. Growing up here, we were influenced by a wide range of genres from electronic and dance music to hip-hop and rock, and everything in between. We’re frequent at all of the festivals nationwide and indulge in the music. We’ve always had a deep appreciation for different sounds, and that’s what motivates us to create music that transcends boundaries and brings people together.

You’ve collaborated with vocal powerhouse Shawn Hook on this new single. Who else would you love to collaborate with in the future? Any dream collaborators?

Collaborating with Shawn Hook on ‘Out of My Head’ was an incredible experience. His powerhouse vocals took he track to a whole new level, and we’re grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented artist and close friend. As for future dream collaborators, there are so many amazing musicians we admire. It would be a dream come true to team up with other artists like Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, The Chainsmokers and The Weeknd (plus so many more). The possibilities are endless and we shoot for the moon on everything we do, we’re excited for what the future holds.

You’ve said that The Banker Boys started partly as a response to the pandemic, and a want to bring people back together through music. How do you think the pandemic might have change the music industry or the ways in which people celebrate dance music in particular?

The pandemic has undoubtedly had a significant impact on the music industry, but it has also fueled our desire to bring people together through music since we were all separated for so long. With clubs and festivals on hold, we believe dance music has become even more important in uplifting spirits and creating a sense of unity. We’ve seen virtual events and live streams become the norm, allowing artists to connect with fans from all of the world. As we move forward, we envision a hybrid future with both physical and virtual experiences to co-exist, creating new and exiting ways for people to celebrate dance music.

You’re both from investment banking and venture capitalist backgrounds! Why the switch to music? I’m guessing that’s how you got your name…? Why involve the two?

That’s exactly right, we do come from venture capital backgrounds and we love seeing visions come to life. The switch to music co-exists with our company building lives. The focus on music was driven by our passion for creating and sharing music that makes people feel alive and stimulates them to their cores. We wanted to channel our love for music into a project that reflects our diverse experiences and brings something totally unique not seen before to the table. As for our name, the “Banker Boys” represents our unconventional journey and serves as a reminder that no dream is too big or too far from reach, regardless of your background. You can do it all.

What is the main message you want to put out with your music?

The main message we want to convey through our music is one of pure joy, liberation, and unity. We want out beats to ignite a fire within you, freeing you from any worries, stresses and anxieties. Our tracks are crafted with the sole purpose of making you dance, smile, and create unforgettable memories. We want to bring people together and remind them to just let go, enjoy themselves and engage in the incredible power of music to uplift and inspire.

What can we expect from The Banker Boys in the next year?

We’ll also be hitting the road for some live performances, bringing our live experiences to fans. Get ready for a non-stop party, because we’re here to make this year unforgettable.
